Fun Facts: Hurricanes

While only about 10 hurricanes form each year, a handful have caused catastrophic damage. Others have brought interesting facts and records.

-Hurricane Irma, which rolled ashore in Florida in 2017, had 185-mph winds for about 37 hours straight. 

-Tropical Cyclone Olivia washed ashore Barrow Island, Australia where the strongest non-tornado wind measured on Earth occurred - a whopping 253 mph.
